The International Association of Birth Photographers’ annual competition collects the most stunning and raw photos taken by birth photographers from around the world. These images capture a wide range of emotions: joy, ᴘᴀɪɴ, but ultimately, they capture the love that accompanies the birth of a new baby. Here are the winners and some of the honorable mentions from the 2020 competition.
First Place: “A Moment Of Silence”
Jessica Vink of VI Photography captured this gorgeous shot of a mother holding her baby shortly after birth. Both look relieved and comforted by one another.
Honorable Mentions: Nurse Linda
It is incredible to see this spectacular birth of a baby in the corridor of a hospital.
Member’s Choice First Place: “Ring of Fire”
For many women, this is one of the most intense parts of the birth process as the baby’s head begins to crown. Katie Torres of Your Story – Professional Birth Services took this photo of a mom entering the final stages of ʟᴀʙᴏʀ and delivery.
Honorable Mention: “In Between”
In this photo by Daniela Justus of Daniela Justus Fotografia, a baby born in its ᴀᴍɴɪᴏᴛɪᴄ sᴀᴄ looks peaceful as it enters the world.
Honorable Mention: “Unplanned, Furious and Free”
Bree Garcia of J&B Photography LLC took this emotional shot of a mom on the verge of welcoming her baby into the world.
Honorable Mention: “We’ve Got You Baby”
