THIS is the horrific moment a two-year-old child accidentally s.h.o.o.t.s his mum d.e.a.d after picking up his dad’s g.u.n and playing with it.
Video footage of Friday’s t.r.a.g.e.d.y showed the boy grabbing the f.i.r.e.a.r.m from a table before pulling the t.r.i.g.g.e.r as his mum turned to look at him.
While at their residence in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, the couple seemed to be so engrossed in their conversation that they were unaware that their son was in possession of the G.l.o.c.k 9mm handgun.
The victim is shown being s.h.o.t in the arm and chest in a home security camera video.
She appeared to have s.u.r.v.i.v.e.d the s.h.o.o.t.i.n.g at first, but she is soon seen s.l.u.m.p.i.n.g to the ground after getting up momentarily to check her i.n.j.u.r.i.e.s.
The child is caught in a state of s.h.o.c.k, running to his mother’s side while his father p.i.c.k.s u.p the d.e.a.d.l.y w.e.a.p.o.n from the ground.
The 27-year-old woman has been named locally as Deborah Rodrigues Monteiro and has been pictured in Brazilian media.
Police have launched an urgent i.n.v.e.s.t.i.g.a.t.i.o.n into the incident and have confirmed the husband, a farmer who had a licence for the w.e.a.p.o.n, will face m.a.n.s.l.a.u.g.h.t.e.r c.h.a.r.g.e.s.
The child cannot be p.r.o.s.e.c.u.t.e.d for her k.i.l.l.i.n.g because of his age but is likely to receive counselling, reports local media.
It has not yet been established whether the young boy will remain under the care of his dad or if he will be taken into social services.
Local police chief Danielle Felismino confirmed the g.u.n.s.h.o.t victim had been taken to hospital where she was pronounced d.e.a.d.
The w.e.a.p.o.n she was k.i.l.l.e.d with and ammunition has been s.e.i.z.e.d by detectives.
The a.u.t.o.p.s.y is understood to have taken place yesterday morning although the results have not yet been made public.
Devastated locals jumped to social media to offer their condolences and share their support with the family.
One commenter wrote: “My condolences to the family and friends. How sad!”
Whilst another added: “My deepest condolences to the family and friends at such a difficult moment.”
This isn’t the first time a t.r.a.g.i.c a.c.c.i.d.e.n.t like this has taken place.
In June 2023, pregnant Ohio mother Laura Ilg and her unborn baby were k.i.l.l.e.d after her toddler accidentally s.h.o.t her in the back.
Police said afterwards that the two-year-old boy had retrieved the g.u.n from a nightstand inside a room that’s door had accidentally been left open.
The f.a.t.a.l i.n.c.i.d.e.n.t also comes as a six-year-old was caught d.r.o.w.n.i.n.g in a pool as his cousin watched on helplessly.
S.h.o.c.k.i.n.g footage showed the boy desperately trying to stay a.f.l.o.a.t before a quick-thinking stranger l.e.a.p.t into the water to help him.

The six-year-old boy named Oscar is seen j.u.m.p.i.n.g onto a blue inflatable sunbed before losing his balance and f.a.l.l.i.n.g into the water.
Seemingly unable to swim, he is seen flailing his arms around in a failed attempt to tread water.
Standing on the side of the pool, his cousin realises he can’t do anything as he does not know how to swim either.
The older cousin, d.e.s.p.e.r.a.t.e to save his d.r.o.w.n.i.n.g r.e.l.a.t.i.v.e, tries to get himself into the water by d.i.p.p.i.n.g his foot in it.
However, after realizing that he would likewise d.r.o.w.n, he hesitates a few times.
