CELEBRITY: SAS star Adam Collard has blamed his bad boy past for the m.i.s.c.a.r.r.i.a.g.e his fiancée Laura Woods suffered.
Just months before he participated in the cruel Channel 4 series, the former Love Island hottie talked candidly about the heartbreaking l.o.s.s, acknowledging that he believed it was “bad k.a.r.m.a” for his shady actions on the ITV2 dating program.
Adam claims that his 11-week m.i.s.c.a.r.r.i.a.g.e caused him to dwell on his background and endure mental anguish. Laura, the ITV football host, became pregnant a month later, and they had their first child in January.
He explained: “I know it’s a terrible way to look at it, but I felt like it was bad karma for me being on dating shows and upsetting too many people.
“I felt like that was some high power’s way of being like, ‘Well, there you go, that’s what you have to carry’.
“There was a lot, and I’ve worked on it now, but I didn’t have a chance before SAS.” It came so quickly.
Laura, who fronted the recent coverage of the Women’s Euros, and Adam, a personal trainer, started dating in October 2023 and became engaged in September of last year.
Adam, who made two appearances on Love Island in 2018 and 2022 before being brought back as a b.o.m.b.s.h.e.l.l, was formerly a big l.o.t.h.a.r.i.o.
“I was just a cocky little p***k, being a love rat bouncing from girl to girl,” he admits, citing his desire to demonstrate his transformation as one of the reasons he signed up for Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, which begins on Sunday.
“I want to show I’m not that man any more. I’ve changed so much.
“The people back home know me for me. And I think that’s what the nice thing is about SAS, you’ll see who I am now.”
There’s certainly no hiding place on the show.
