A mother gave birth to a pair of identical triplets who shared the same ᴘʟᴀᴄᴇɴᴛᴀ, making them one in 200 million. On April 26, the three boys — Jimmy, Jensen, and Jaxson — arrived a month early at Liverpool Women’s Hospital. Gina and Craig Dewdney welcomed their three children through C-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ just seconds apart. The couple from Cheshire were stunned to hear at a 13-week ultrasound that they were expecting not one, but three children. Mrs Dewdney, 34, said that there were 30 medics in the delivery room since each baby required its own neonatal team.
Because the children shared the same ᴘʟᴀᴄᴇɴᴛᴀ, her pregnancy was classified as ‘high ʀɪsᴋ.’ Because the nutrients and nourishment from the mother must be shared three ways, children born this way are more prone to have problems. At her 24-week check, the couple was told that it was certainly three identical boys and that getting a clean picture during ultrasounds was difficult because “someone’s foot would get in the way, or someone’s head would get in the way, or they would kick each other.” Ms Dewdney was scheduled for a ᴄ-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ, but her waters ʙʀᴏᴋᴇ at 34 weeks, she began to feel ᴄᴏɴᴛʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴs, and she was taken to the hospital for an ᴇᴍᴇʀɢᴇɴᴄʏ C-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ.
