Families Ring In The New Year Welcoming New Bundles Of Joy – First Babies Of 2023

North Carolina welcomes the first babies born in 2023.

The first baby born at Duke University Hospital on New Year’s Day was 11-pound Johnny Paul Daniels. Britney and Jesse Daniels welcomed their son at 11:12 a.m. Sunday.

Piper Boone Hawkins arrived at UNC Health Rex Sunday morning at 1:18 a.m. Katie and Josh Hawkins of Wake Forest are thrilled at her arrival to ring in the New Year.

Stiles George McGee was the first baby of 2023 born in Fayetteville at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Tayvon McGee and Briana Esquilin welcomed their son at 2:25 a.m. Sunday. Stiles weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz and was 20.5 inches long.

The first baby born in Wayne County in 2023 was Evander Adonis Indigo Shivar. His mother Brea Shivar welcomed her son at 12:49 a.m. Sunday at Wayne UNC.

Hrishi was another New Year’s bundle of joy, born at UNC Health Rex Holly Springs Hospital. Parents Priti and Ravi Verma and big brother Hriday, 7, welcomed the fourth member of their family at 12:39 a.m. Hrishi weighed 6 lbs. 11oz and was 20 inches and three-quarters long.
